Introduction:

Nutrizyme CEA (Acid Cellulase) [EC 3.2.1.4] is made from a refined strain of Trichoderma reesei through liquid fermentation and extraction technology.

This product can hydrolyze 1, 4-beta-D-glycosidic -linkages in botanical cellulose, lichenin and cereal beta-D-glucans:

1. Endo-cellulase can hydrolyze cellulose fibers randomly to generate reducing and nonreducing ends.

2. Exo-cellulase can further degrade fibers, releasing cellobiose, which is glucose dimers linked by β-1, 4 glycosidic bonds.

3. Beta-glucosidase can hydrolyze cellobiose into glucose.

 

DEFINITION OF UNIT:

1 unit of cellulase equals to the amount of enzyme, which degrades 4 mg/ml sodium carboxymethyl cellulose to release 1 μmol reducing sugar (in glucose) in 1 min, at 37 and pH 5.5.
